Hey everyone. I finishing building my pond and I am looking for the cheapest liners available. I actually found a website online that is very cheap but I was wondering if anyone has any insight on how they have gone around a cheap pond liner. Thanks for the help!!!
Heres the link to the site i found for cheap.

the cheapest effective liner I've seen is a silo cover. cheap, durable and many have used them without issue. The trouble is that they can max out in size at 15' diameter. so if your pond is larger you'll need something bigger. (because you have to factory in the depth twice plus the length)

for me my soil is red clay so I don't need to worry about keeping water from seeping out, but keeping mud from seeping in as the soil itself holds water on its own.

if your soil doesnt hold water on its own then you want something durable that wont puncture but also be pliable enough to mold into your dig design.

at the cost of pond liners I'd try grabbing 2 of the 45$ ones. double it up and call it a day.

Careful, you'll only get what you pay for.

absouletely incorrect. many labeled pnd liners are 12-15mil thick and cost 500$ and upwards. the ones he pointed out are 20mil thick.

in the fish world it's anything but you get what you pay for and more like the more money you pay, the more money you pay. the product isn't any better.

20 mils. in IL won't do. The 100+ in summer with -20 in winter is something a cheap liner was not made for. Back off on the bashing. Where have you seen 500 dollars for a liner? 40 mils. only costs 1.50, at the most for retail. Why cheap out on the most important part of a pond?

Treated tarps may have chemical issues, I would prefer something untreated myself.

Also, I have a 20mil liner that was punctured the first night we had a medium sized snaping turle in it (The holes were repaired and the turtle was put in a hard lined pond) so I wouldn't consider 20mil heavy duty if you decided to use it.

good luck!

ebay pool liners!!!

Thanks for the advice everyone. Yeah I mean I think as a temporary use, I will just get the Billboard Tarps and invest later on if there is trouble. I really dont see it as a huge issue if it rips or gets punctured because I can just throw the fish in my tank until repaired.

sigh math people math. 45$ for 672 square feet in his link at even .75 a square foot you're looking at 504$

at 1.50 a sqft you're looking at over a grand. he could even double or triple layer it if necesary. but really if you've ripped a 20mil liner you didn't use sand below it like recomended. or jabbed it or purpose for some reason. anything can fail if you make it.

and I'm in arizona if anythign is hard on a liner it's our 120 degree heat and sun. no problems thus far. (granting that my soil is clay)
