Cheapest Pond Liner?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Show some pics. of your pond. In IL. we have nasty clay too. This way he can get an idea of what he's working with.

will post the project soon, I told my wife last night everything with the pond has been a 3 attempt thing before I get it right. for instance I just redug the pond deeper, got the filtration back up, filled it, waited for chlorine to evap, then added in the fish. came home yesterday and checked on it to find that my waterfall was off. my 16" common had somehow gotten below the skimmer and pushed it up in the air by a foot and half or so. this elevated the skimmer box out of the water and by default made my water pump an air pump:irked:
so I went to walmart got an 8' diameter intex pool with a 580gph pump and filter and drained the pond (well as much would fit) into the pool (pool is somwhere between 850 and 900 gallons) I then took my 2000gph pump hooked to the uv filter and applied it as aeration and uv filtration.

my project today will be to remove the liner, clean up the sides and bottom as water has now seeped below the liner through the entrance of the skimmer area. (which was located on the edge of the pond in a tandem hole) get my 20'x25' tarp put that down to cover the whole area including the skimmer area, put the liner back down rehook up the primary filter and waterfall and then refill.

Is the skimmer internal?

Is the pleco OK?

plecos fine, the skimmer is beside the pond in a 4'x3'x2' deep hole that has a liner inlet into it. the pleco pulled the liner out of the inlet to the skimmer which started water draining into the rest of the hole, he then worked his way down into the mud and was digging beneath the skimmer and pushing it up. once it got too high and the pump started to make more noise from sucking in air, he simply swam back into the primary pond. I checked him he doesn't have any scars.

so now as hindsight shows, the whole skimmer area will be lined and some buildup will be placed to prevent him from getting into it.
