I'm not sure how badly it needs to be on a diet or not. I think that is a flash zebra catfish. Basically, a debated subspecies/separate species of the Brachyplatystoma juruense. Apparently, some are saying that they are deeper bodied as well as brightly colored. Here is a wild caught one pictured on planetcatfish:

Now to research more about it....

Ooh, is it more expensive than a Tig?

I think they are much more rare than a tig when they have this coloration. They only come from the Nanay river.

not more expensive than tig just a bit more expensive than normal jurence

we had a few for sale in the UK a few years ago and they come up for sale all the time BUT most lose the yellow color as they grow i was told it has something to do with something they eat in the wild or water parameters

I'm hearing that as well, and that some of the fish that come from that river and exist in other rivers also have the odd colorations. Do you know if they maintain that color if they are bought at larger sizes? Also, it looks as thought the water is extremely soft where they are coming from....

The fish right now is called Brachyplatystoma cf. juruense 'Rio Nanay' they come into the hobby quite often. As far as I know they loose that coloration in captivity. I know John at East Coast Zoo has brought a quite a few in these last few months. Other vendors bring them in too under the B. juruense name but if you can get a collection point then you will know if you have this fish. They also come in under the name flash tiger shovelnose.

Nice... they shouldn't be called a shovelnose... they don't look like one...lol
