HI..

I have tank of 7X2.5X2.5 ft. With 3nos. Sting rays about 4 inch dia, 2nos. 14-15 inch big Bichirs, 1 African knife fish about 10 inch and a small discus. I wanted to add 2 Chinese high fin banded shark ?

Will they live with above tank mates ?

Need suggestion ...

From what I've seen they get a little over a foot, and are peaceful. Of anything I'd think you'd have to worry about the other tank mates bothering the banded sharks.

I've always been under the impression that like koi, they are best kept in a pond since they can grow quite large (over 3ft) and prefer colder temperatures.

Apparently I've been on the wrong websites.

They also prefer a temperature range of 60F - 72F. This makes them more suited to koi ponds than warmwater ray tanks. The average adult size of Myxocyprinus asiaticus is 53".

Here are a couple enjoying the company of koi.

I have heard from my lfs that chinese hf banded sharks are often raised by breeders in the normal tropical tank temperatures and do just fine.

Wow, 53"?!

They do ok IMHO, IDK about fine. They'd be fine if they reached 3' in such a tank and be as pretty as the breeding colors posted by Oddball (which are only during the breeding).

IME, they are very shy, easily intimidated, don't tolerate soft water with KH and GH of below 3 degrees. They die at KH and GH or 2 degrees or below, perhaps exacerbated by higher tropical tank temps. Or vice versa, they die from high temps of ~85 F, exacerbated by water softness.

The only tankmate that would generally concern me is the African knife out of the OP list but that could be because I know too little of them.

I found them hard to keep alive in the warmer temperatures. They are peaceful. I only have success with them in cooler waters . I had them with goldfish and they did great. May need central air or a chiller in the very hot summer. Good Luck with them. Pictures would be great.
