How do you verified if it’s a natural wild caught hybrid? How would Rodrigo know..? That’s a big claim saying they are wild caught hybrids. I hope you didn’t pay a premium for them

no, they were actually cheaper than their tems or orinos of the same size. But youre right I was skeptic about the WC claim but they are different from any orinos Ive seen at this size. If not tems I would say they have xingu or something in them because I know consistent spangling from head to tail across the top half of the body is not a trait of orinos

Actually, after doing some deep research, I found a few pics of a type of orino with full body spangling. That may be what these are. Well, I cant say Im disappointed because the ones I saw were gorgeous full grown. I guess I just got some cheaper orinos and probably wont be buying from predatory fins again.

Canada eh
Meh. If you like the fish and you feel like the price was fair enough. No need to throw the baby out with the bath water.

I have a huge respect for tcav88 tcav88 and for your opinion Sir. And I don’t disagree with him not knowing much about most of the fish he sells. Most lfs are like that.

I like to eat the meat and spit out the bones. At least he has lots of cool fish for sale. Just don’t expect to learn much or anything about those fish from him. I would buy fish from him if they ship to Canada for decent prices.

There is a lfs near me that gets all sorts of cool fish in and they will sell you anything if you have money. Rtc for your 20g- sure thing they only grow to the size of tank right? Lol. I stopped trying to correct them when they feed me bs info then eventually realized not to even ask for info. What is the sense of pissing off the owner in a pointless battle when I can get cool fish from them that no other store carries because they get too big.

.02$?

Most orinos from Orinoco, inirida and recently some from Rio meta have spangling, I’m not bashing your bass just wanna keep it ? with you, they will turn out nice most likely after about 2-3 years. This is the 3rd or 4th time he’s labeled these type of orinos as temensis or temensis hybrids. Perhaps the exporters don’t know any better as they see the spots and immediately think temensis in which ppl like rodrigo get them and just sell them as what the exporter sent them as ?‍♂.

I have only seen orinos 1 time here in my city and they were $160 each @4”. I was so heart broken because orinos were my fave when i first started learning about chichla (until I saw pinima lolnow they are #2 on my list).
But even at 4” they were amazing with some decent spangles.

I am not shy to pay that for good fish but I won’t be able to ship 16” bass when I move so not a great idea to dump bigger money on bass before the move.

No I get it, and I appreciate it. I feel a little dumb because I got really excited. While Im not new to fish keeping I am relatively new to the in depth peacock bass trade. I do think theyll look really good in the long run and $85 for a 6/7" Orino still isnt bad so its not a loss at all.

Hybrid pbass on average look horrible, only naturally occurring hybrid that I know of is kelzul. Imop I would prefer to own a wc non hybrid pbass the colors and overall body shape non flagtail fins birth defects etc, you always wind up with an amazing fish with beautiful colors.

I couldnt even find pics to see how they do turn out. It'd be nice if they just shared the positive genes but nature doesnt work that way sometimes
