Cichlid IQ's...???

I guess it depends on what you define as intelligence. I have a Green Chromide that will gently hand feed (while the dempsey and salvini are biting the crap out of me), swim into my hand and sit for food, follow me around the room, and stick the top half of his body out of the water to "beg" for shrimp. On the other hand I have a red atabapo pike that swims around like a tard all day, but does the most brilliant job of evading a net you've ever seen in your life.

The most intelligent "food winners" I've seen are Green Chromide, Oscars, and Dovii.

watching my hornet tear apart an otto filter just to pull the sponge out makes me think they are quite smart.

I guess it all depends? Theres a spark in most of my fish, I sit down for hours and watch theres always something interesting going on.

My little Amphilophus definitely seems to be aware of his surroundings, and it's obvious he's aware of me, even from across the room. He follows me around the tank, he moves his eyes, and he sleeps in the same spot every night.
