clear water with driftwood????????

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
us too, but i live in the country so town rules for burning dont apply. lucky us cuz we have bon fires all the time. cant wait to have one this weekend:headbang2
oh and i will make sure the wood is completly submerged during the boiling. thanks again for the ideas!!!!

It doesn't matter where you live here, if there is a burn ban in effect you obey or get fined. Too many fires get out of control here and worse in the country than the city. We had to buy a gas grill because charcoal is illegal during burn bans due to ash.

Lol i know how that goes. This past spring i took a trip down to OK with my buddy when he went back home to visit and we couldnt even build a campfire to keep the bugs away cuz of the burn ban. We actually got detoured quite a ways out of our way due to a fire as well.

cant wait till saturday! shall i say FIRE IT UP. got everything ready to go. even elevated it off the ground to put wood underneath. just got 3"s of snow. gunna ba a friggin blast. fire, sleds, smores. whatelse could you ask for while "working" on your tank?

Just soak the wood in the bathtub. Run hot water to speed up the process. Its going to take time to get rid of the tannins.

Me = jealous (I miss having snow) add - hot cocoa

I do the same thing with a 55 gallon drum. I have had to build a hearth/oven around the base of my drum to be able to get the temps up high through the entire barrel. I found with out the hearth the temps never really got super hot. My hearth is basically a way for heat to be trapped up the sides of the barrel. You would be astonished how hard it is too heat 55 gallons of water in the winter time.

hmm, i dont think i ever did it in the winter tryin to boil water. im sure it could be done though if you stack the wood up the side of the barrel a bit and keep it stacked up "teepee" style if you will. that makes for a pretty hot fire and would heat all around instead of just the bottom.
