Hey all, I put in a few plants into my tanks a few months ago and boy what a mistake that was lol...so I have a huge population of snails in 3 of my tanks and I heard that loaches eat snails-was wondering if any clown loach I buy will be on the hunt for them automatically (naturally by instincts) or will they have to be trained and adapt to eating snails...
thank you all
John

it is not very accurate idea to keep clown loach in planted tank 1st of all it can eat your plant,,but the dangerous thing is when it will grow up it will easily uprooted your plant
if you have problem with snail go for snail trap (google it)

YES loaches love snails they will root out as many of the little things as they can

Just be sure to get a couple loaches they hate being by them selfs what kind of plants do you have in the tank ? my clown loachs never really ate plants but they do dig around in the substrate and can up root them

Clown loaches require a very large tank and at least 5 of their own kind. They are not bad with plants. Sometimes they put wholes in large leafed plants, but I've never had any issues. http://forums.loaches.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=8460&start=345 Has a massive tank with over 30 loaches and some plants. http://forums.loaches.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=10750 I recommend this thread here as it has a system of multiple tanks connected via tubing with loads of plants. There are quite a few different loach species including Clowns, Pangios, Sids
