Clown Loaches with African Cichlids?

I really do like clown loaches alot, but I have heard that keeping them with african cichlids are not ok and others have said its ok. The reason why I heard it isn't ok is because clown loaches have a lower ph than africans. Any input on what you think/know would be helpful.

I've seen them mixed with smaller Tanganyikans. I don't adjust my pH anyway, and I've always been able to keep clown loaches healthy

I have a 135 with about 35 or so mixed African ranging from 2"-6" and I have 7 CLs in with them and no problems at all. My water PH is at 8-8.2 right out of tha tap and stays pretty steady. The CLs are very entertaining and do a great job scaverging all the missed food laying on the bottom. I say "go for it".

Are you guys keeping wild caught africans, or captive bred stuff you can basically keep in toilet water and would be fine? I worked at a facility that bred rare wild caught african cichlids, the water they needed to thrive would NOT be OK for clown loaches.

I've kept clown loaches with my African cichlids and they did just fine and i get my water from the tap.

OK then, let's just throw a group fish in a tank that prefer completely different water parameters because we CAN. Who cares what they prefer? It's all about what I WANT.

Isn't the very process of keeping tropical fish in an aquarium, doing that very thing?

That statement seems a little militant and somewhat hypocritical coming from a fish keeper.
