"Colombian Pike"

I'm not the most familiar with pikes, but my LFS has one called a Colombian Pike. What species of crenicihla is this. thanks.

I asked this in another thread but it never got answered.

Is this a typical common name for a Pike? I looked through the ID's and none had Colombian.

I seen some for sale and was wondering the same thing. Look like a saxatilis species

There are a lot of pikes exported from Columbia, throw up some pics and maybe we can figure it out

I had some of those with the same name come in to my store..."Wild Columbian Pike Cichlid"...here's a pic:

Is that what the one's you saw look like?
I think they are Crenicichla sp Belly crawler.

I think that's what they looked like. I'll go back tomorrow and get another look.

Good luck with that, a lot of the time they don't come in with scientific names, and often people don't know.

Columbian pikes are either sveni, or sp. 'belly crawler'. I really wish pet stores and distributors would start using scientific names, make things so much easier. Alas, I don't think many people would try buying them though if they couldn't pronounce the name.
