Get dimensions before you go down. Email him and keep bugging him.

I almost made a 4 hour trip (8 hour round trip) to go buy a 200 gallon tank. The seller advertised it as a 200, but kept dodging to answer the dimensions of the tank. By the 4th email, he told me the dimensions and it turned out to be a 100 gallon tank.

Yeah i wasnt going down there till i got dimensions. He sent me a text with the dimensions (96 x 22.5 x 26 = 243?)..lol. Also sent me some pictures and everything looked messed up. So i told him i had to pass. Funny thing is that he just sold his other tank which he said was a 240gallon so his 240 must of been probably a 180:ROFL:.

A couple months ago I found someone offering a 150 on craigslist for $90. With the thought that was too good to be true, I called him, and he told me over the phone it was 72 1/2 x 18 1/2 x 28 1/2. (which is 150g). I used some vacation time to take the afternoon off work, drove about 45 minutes to the guys house and he showed me a 55g. I have a 55g, I look at it for several hours a day. I *know* a 55 when I see one. I pulled a tape measure out of my truck and went off on the guy for wasting my vacation time and gas money.

He didn't pull that ad for 4 days, I wonder if someone now owns a 55 thinking its 150 gallons.

Buyer beware, sounds like you made the right call.
