converting fluval ribbed tubing to vinyl

Apparently it doesn't work very well if the vinyl tubing has been flattened from being rolled up. It crimps way to easily and reduces flow down to nothing. Any ideas? Instead of being round, it is shaped like a really flat oval. I spent about 3 hours working on this yesterday, finally I had to put the old tubing back on.

I could just use a few inches to attach it to PVC (which would avoid any bends that cause it to crimp), but then I would need to buy more stuff and PVC elbows cost like 22 cents each...crazy.

Look at ribbed tubing. Like used on washing machine drain lines. Comes in allot of sizes. I have seen it in the fishing/boating sections, used for live bait aeration.

i find that the vinyl tubing they sell at home supply stores really sucks. now the stuff that the Python hose is made of, thats really flexible and doesnt crimp up. i wonder if its a different material??

I tried some of that rubber like stuff, but it had a tendency to kink.
CPVC might work, really cheap fittings, combined with hose barbs from the drip watering systems, again really cheap.

I will probably just use a few inches of the vinyl tubing to attach PVC to the filter. That way it won't kink and I can rig up some DIY clamps to keep it from flattening.

what about the braided tubing its like clear tubing with rope like stuff imbeded in it it will not flatten or kink sorry for not being more technical with my description LOL

Boil water in a large pot. Soak the section of tubing you want to shape for twenty or thirty seconds in the boiling water. Remove it and while the tubing it is still hot, it can be shaped very easily. May have to repeat the process a few times, but works like a charm.
