Hey new to this site but not new to aquariums. I realize convict females have the distinct pink belly, i bought this smallish convict yesterday. Its confusing me. It has the very long dorsal filament so characteristic of a male convict. However it has a microscopic pink spot on its belly. So confused heres some of the best pics i could get of it. Please let me know what sex this fish is. Thanks20190917_110659.jpg20190917_110615.jpg20190917_110656.jpg20190917_110659.jpg

Female...I have 2 female left from a previous batch that has finnage easily confused with males, but the belly is the giveaway.

Crap! Ok. I have another female who is 100% female that has a huge pink patch on the belly that has much shorter dorsal fin then the one in the pic. I thought for sure because this dude had very long dorsal fin ray it was 100% male

orange in the belly = female

Dorsal fin is not a good indicator of cichlid sex. I've had many female cichlids with long dorsals.

Dam it. Was hoping for a pair. My other fish is 10000% female tho as half its belly is pink. The one in question just has a few small dots of pink

20190917_134753.jpgtheres my 2 hard to get a good pic cuz they keep pacing the glass. The big one is guarenteed female see the huge pink spot. The one in question is on other side the small one has very long dorsal ray. And next two pics are individual pics of both the giant female and the one in question for comparison

Notice the one in question has super long dorsal ray. The giant 10000 percent female in middle pic see how her dorsal is short and the massive pink area. Its this little one is confusing me
