You could perhaps try some Featherfin Squeakers. Cool and large catfish.

African rift lake cichlid and CA came from alkaline water and are compatible in water requirements. Amazonian SA and African riverine cichlid typically came from soft acid water and are incompatible with rift lake cichlids, except for long domesticated species (Kribensis, angels, blue acara, jewel cichlid et el) that don’t matter. Ex Amazonian SA from the Pacific rim (green terror, red terror)and subtropical Argentina species ( red ceiba and brazilensis) came from alkaline water and are compatible with rift lake Africans. Some blackwater SAs and riverine Africans are so sensitive that they get sick (HITH, and bloat) in hard water and can only breed in soft water.
