The topic sounds like a bit of a lopsided 'fight' but I'm curious to know whether anyone has successfully kept larger Corydoras with semi-large predatory Cichlids. I've seen them successfully kept with 6-7" GT's, and I'm considering keeping about 6 of them in a tank that houses Severums, a Chocolate (No real issue with these two guys), and my main concern, a Blue Acara (6" Max).

My Aequidens pulcher is rather docile and never really took small feeder guppies when I used to occasionally feed them before I realised how futile and unhealthy it was. I would just hate to see them end up as reasonably expensive feeders at some time down the track.

Your fish are not piscavores (fish eaters/hunters) so they will not bother the cories. The Chocolate is an opportunist so if it is 8" or more & gets real hungry it might take a shot at them but if well fed & the cories have cover chocolates will be ok. Cories are easy prey for hunting fish like festea, oscars managuense, big Amphilophus, etc. so if you plan on putting them in with any of those types then don't do it. Hunters need medium or large pimelodiodes catfish as tankmates.

I understand my cichlids aren't large or generally predatory, but my main concern was the Blue Acara which are quite fond of feeders generally, and at 6" she might have a go at one.

Was also thinking that if the Chocolate is ultra keen for a feed or very bored he might snap one up here and there but knowing my Chocolate I highly doubt thats going to happen unless he 'means up' in the next 7".

Might pick up some Corys within the next month or so then.
