Cost Effective Water Conditioners

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It's no gimmick. I worked retail 6 years at LFS x2. Spoke with the Reps from many vendors. MOST pond dechlor is more concentrated. Although it makes it more difficult to dial down the dosage for aquauriums.

You might want to read this entire thread. And take a close look at the SDS of those products. There’s no debate here…..

" Pond NovAqua Plus neutralizes up to 3.75 ppm of chlorine (free and combined as chloramines), twice the amount that regular Pond NovAqua removes. What Pond NovAqua Plus does not do is take out the ammonia that comes in the chloramines. This should be done by using Kordon's AmQuel Plus (or original AmQuel) with Pond NovAqua Plus . "

Which = watered down sodium thiosulfate, in a nice little retail container.

If you want to save $$$$$$ - you might want to start at the beginning of this topic. As I said, no debate here. Commercial aquaculture facilities don't buy these products at the LFS. lol

Typically pond declorinators are NOT more concentrated, they are exactly the same as aquarium grade. The reason that they are marketed as needing less product, is due to the fact that in a a large open system such as found in a pond setting, chlorine will be reduced, and gas off, much quicker than in a much smaller system, such as in an aquarium. People working in retail sales refer to this as a marketing GIMMICK.

HA! That's slick asf...who says snake oil is done.

Also, sales reps and local fish stores just aren't very good sources for a topic like this... especially the reps which usually don't fully understand the products and are just trying to communicate whatever the business wants people to think.
