I really can't get small ones as I don't have any minnow traps setup.
I really do catch slabs though.I COULD put them in my tank, I just like to grow something out.

Stick with meaty, previously alive OR currently alive foods. You'll have no problem.They live outside in some pretty tough places in NA, they are hardy!

my crappie is really agressive, it outcompetes my sunfish, eats anything I feed him, minnows, waxworms, crickets, nightcrawlers, pellets, or krill

A neat way I'd always tricked my picky eaters: I'd throw floating pellets into the filter's output, they blow around like bugs, and my fish would snap them right up!

thats how my fish started eating freeze dried shrimp, now they take them all the time from the surface.
