I might be getting three crested geckos soon and the terrarium that they come with is 12*12*18 is this big enough for them for life? If not how big of a tank will they need?

I would say they need more space. I would say at least 18 x 24 x 18

I don't even keep single crested geckos in 12"x12"x18" Exos......

That tank is way too crowded. You could keep a trio in an 18"x18"x24" Exo but I wouldn't go any smaller.

I keep a trio of adult crested geckos in a 20x20x32. I have the cage set up with multiple perches set up at equivalent heights... and the geckos have each carved out their own territories. But even with that much space and over 9 'desirable' perches they occasionally squabble over certain perches.

The standard rule for cage size for cresties is 20 gallons for the first one, add 10 more gallons for each additional. I wouldn't put two males (even with 4+ females) in anything less than 100 gallons.
