Yes it will be safe for your Tigrinus, a buddy of mine has an RTC and is using this substrate. I have personally seen my Polys eat it on their food and they are right as rain.

Also, here is some food for thought, the Japanese consider crushed garnet as the "STANDARD" when it come to substrate for bichirs and they have been using it for ages.

I suspect it'll be a little too coarse. But again, that stuff looks really neat. Can't help but think it'd bring out the oranges in the spots on these rays.

As having experience with rays it will work perfect for them. Nt to big nt to small definitely nt sharp at all a overall outstanding substrate.
