Curved Gar

I've had a pair of gars for 10+ years. They've been hardy eaters with no issues the entire time but one recently developed a pronounced curve shape. I've attached a couple of photos. The difference between the two is pretty obvious in the second photo (curved vs straight). Any ideas what caused this and if there is any treatment? Thanks in advance.

The curvature of the fish could also be caused by extremely poor water conditions such as ammonia poisoning. Severity of the curvature depends on the toxicity of the water.

Possibly a broke back?
Like beau1990 said, most likely a broken back. Unfortunately a somewhat common injury for gars. There is a chance it might recover on its own over time though.

Thanks for the responses. Water parameters are perfect and I do weekly water changes, so sounds like a broken back. That's a real shame. I'm hopeful for a recovery.

And like Hao Hao said it can definitely recover my guy did And once he was healed up he looked fine, maybe a little bulge where the break did happen
