If you don't feed feeders and your fish are well fed you won't have a problem

They seam to know that shape dorsal fin will do internal damage if eaten

If you saw a video I wonder if the tiger lived after it

Introduced another group 2"-2.5" (done twice) today in with my well fed 10-13" IT's. Had a little scare as one of my 13" IT curiously came up to one, took a nonchalant gulp, and presumably recognized the the dorsal fins and did not try again. The little datter had some damage to the top dorsal fins which saved it's life. So, I'd say they will not eat small dats under normal conditions.

It seems healthier for the little ones to be with a larger one. They eat a ton more and are more lively. I've also been able to wean the big one off feeders in record time because he sees the little ones eating shrimp.

My bigger tigers ate two small indo's last year. My bigger guys were well fed, but could never get their eyes off the smaller indo's on the other side of the divider. The two indo's that got eaten some how slipped through the divider.

Uh oh....so it does happen?

I knew someone would eventually come out and say that their little dats did get eaten by bigger ones.

How I see it is that fish(like other animals) are opportunistic feeders. So when they see something that can be eaten, will be or try to eat it. My tigers were well fed, but I guess they felt the need to eat again when my indo's snuck out of the divider lol. The bigger tigers were curious and struck at the bag the indo's were in when I acclimated them. That was when I knew I had to put up a divider.

Hmm... Interesting. My big Dat, which is only about 5", was strictly on feeders before I introduced the little ones. I had to have him on feeders because I was away for a few weeks but have been able to wean him off over a period of a few weeks before. After introducing the little ones he immediately got interested in the shrimp I was feeding them. I tear little pieces for them and he would leave them alone. Only when I throw in whole ones that the little ones cant eat he'd take them.

I guess every fish is different. Where your Dats different types?
