Lol, it was awesome meeting FINWIN FINWIN and her fishy family. Lots of personable cichlids everywhere including a multi-generational harem of convicts and a parrot that would only open up to me if i took my hat off. Looking forward to the new tank when it arrives 🙂
Great of you to do that for a fellow member!!

This is NOT a layout. I've just propped these plants up and chose this group because they work best with the background colors. The driftwood piece you see at the bottom is 22 inches. I have another tall free standing piece on the way that will reach near the top. The blue plant is the one I painted and the spider plant I pulled from the 225. I have a couple more silk plants to add. Got a lot of floorspace with this boxy shape.

You sure do go all out with the creativity. Definitely unique. Very interested to see the results…should be one of a kind

...By the way jjohnwm jjohnwm , there might be blocks stuffed in the stand. Then around the stand. Then on top of the stand. Then UNDER the stand. Just to MAKE SURE it's strong enough!!:nilly:
What safety factors to you take into consideration?!!!
The sky collapsing on in on it?
A tank turning into a solid cube of lead?
Lol, yeah, that's cute and all, but there is no way that flimsy little table is going to withstand the weight of your aquarium! Not a chance!! :WHOA: Backfromthedead Backfromthedead is obviously trying to pull a fast one on you; he likely saw all those convicts bopping and smacking and juking in all your tanks, and hopes that you will have a tank disaster, throw up your hands in defeat, and give him all those convicts which he will then use as feeders.

You need to fully enclose the sides of that little coffee table he built you with premium hardwood 1-inch plywood, then drill a hole into the centre of the top and carefully pour it full of structural-grade concrete. You'll also need titanium-reinforced support rods under the floor, resting on screw pilings that have been sunk at least ten feet into the ground beneath, or until you hit bedrock, whichever comes first.

DO NOT do anything simple. Never react...when you can overreact!!! :)

Too much....is just barely enough. :)

I'm an artist and writer but that's not what I do for a living. Gotta eat, as they say!

I hope you got a guarantee and a lengthy warranty on that coffee table. And not to mention a juicy 50% off your next purchase too?

You really need to screw these fly by night cowboy manufacturers down you know.

The pink mums in the 125. They are blended in with the "peppermint" mums and reptile silk vines. It's an unconventional approach to tank decor (not to mention cheap) especially with with large tanks) but it works for suppressing aggression. The fish not only have sight breaks but areas they can claim, relax and explore in. By layering deco this way even bottom fish like hrps will use the entire tank all the way to the top. They love resting, exploring and nestling in the vines and behind the mums. The two beta males (Shade and Mote) can get away comfortably and not get chased or stressed. This format has reduced aggression to nearly nothing. There's still sparring and posturing, but nobody can get a clean shot to fight and everyone can get away. The flowers swell in the water and move, extremely lifelike looking.

This is a custom 125. It's 22 inches deep not the standard 18. This is actual gallons not model gallons (standard 125 is really 116-117 gallons).

The mums have been added to the center along the back wall. Some of the hrps immediately went under them like a tree. First shot is the 3pm full daylight setting. Second shot is the real time evening setting of 9pm.

So I'm on a quick break and slapped together this new design incorporating the wood stand. Still not convinced it's strong enough. So...

SPOOF.jpg

You might say "What's the point of the wood stand then?" The answer: EVERYTHING! The blocks need a skeleton of wood to be stronger and build on or they'll collapse into each other.:headbang2

Masons will be arriving in 3 weeks to build the brick columns and cross beams in my office. I won't have any room to move around, open the door or do anything, but these sacrifices must be made! A last option is having a new concrete slab poured in the basement. I'd hate to have the columns put down only for the floor to sink! 😵

Illogic neatly packed and sent to your door, Washington DC
