That Oscar should have been culled long before reaching Petsmart, but in these days where many people are embracing mutant fish such as BPs, I suppose culling is not as important, or profit motive is overriding quality.
The Petsmart probably purposely allowed this fish to be sold thinking because of it's strange appearance it would attract buyers and get more attention.

Wow, cute in a weird way. I'd put that fish in a palace, feed him/her up and see what happens. Might make a good study for the effects of positive fishkeeping.

(I thought of the name Spike when I saw that tail!)

One of my first tanks had a guppy with a hunchback upside down "V" spine. She outlived a lot of her normal looking siblings and had no problems (and normal babies!) I named her 'Vee.'

Yeah 8 bucks from petsmart I remember choosing a different Oscar too but she put this one in the bag and I didn't notice his weird stubby tail and beak until I got home. He seems to be getting around fine and he's eating is there any chance he'll live or does he have some disorder? Is this just from inbreeding?
I'm hoping they didn't cut the tail or do something mean. The fish may even have banged his mouth from an injury, hard to say. I've seen Os with jacked up faces from injuries before.
