Sounds pretty cool actually. You would have to make sure he got a lot of sun though. If the lip blocks to much sun it may not work.
The lip is only about an inch over so he cant get out. It doesn't block any sun.

I've got a pair of 7-8" red-eared sliders in a 3,500g pond with 10 koi ranging from 4-12" long. The turtles leave them alone. Actually I think the koi like to bug the turtles. They'll swim up under them and startle them when they're floating at the surface.

Of course, if you put the turtle in that pond, good luck catching him again without draining the whole thing.

And if he insists on chasing fish, you could always throw a bunch of rosie reds in there for him...

Funny thing happened. I put a screen over where the water was coming out of the bog filter to keep the turtle in. Well we had a big hard rainstorm the next night and it stirred up the big filter and all the debris got caught on the mesh net. The bog filter overflowed and guess who got out. So now he is in the pond. He seems to leave the fish alone but Ive noticed him eating some of the plants. The pond is starting to clear up with the filter and uv and i can almost see all the way down at 4 ft at the deepest. Once it gets clear Im going to try and catch him with my big scoop net and then put him back in the 55 gallon inside.

The pond is beautifully clear now and I can count every fish I have. The turtle is actually nowhere to be found. I don't know if he decided to go find somewhere else or a raccoon or something got him. Ill keep my eye out for him but I have not seen him in 3 days. I am probably going to put my niger cat in there in the next few days because I can see the bottom now. I think he would enjoy the space. I am really considering putting my large silver arowana in there but Im not sure yet...

Okay so some updated pictures from the pond with the growth of the plants. I had been planting some plants in the bog filter so it unfortunately stirred it up and the water is a little cloudy so it is hard to see the fish in the pictures. I also had to put a little fountain in the middle to add oxygen to the water. I came outside on a day that it had gotten hot for the first time in a while and the fish were sucking air. Its not the permanent fountain but it will do for now. Still not even close to being done but its getting closer. Enjoy!

Very nice, great looking pond. I would not worry to much about the turtle if he is still in there. Just drop in some minnows and he will leave them alone.

Interesting to read what yall were saying about Pacu I guess they crack more than 1 kind of nut.

Thanks chef. I still haven't seen the turtle. I don't know if a predator got him or he ran off. Its been a week though. lol I think i am going to put my niger cat in there for the summer and maybe my aros but i think thats it as far as tropicals. im also afraid the pacu will chew up my wires which they have done in my 700.
