differentiating between arowanas

Asian/Jardini arowana have a more pronounced tail fin structure, and hail from the coasts of china/asia. Where as the black and silver are from a different geography (amazon/SA) and feature a "pointed" tail fin structure. The Jardini is considered more agressive than the black/silver aro's. Asian and Jardini are the same fish, silver and black are color morphs of the same fish.

Okay sir you obviously have no idea what you're talking about. Master Arowana, i suggest you disregard this entirely.

Fishbase is an excellent scientific site on the various species, it will give you all the identifying information you need.

Also feel free to post a photo of the arowana in question and we can identify it for you

Had moved on, but now your post has brought me back :screwy: My post was not to "correct" him but was an example as to why research is needed.

If you can't tell the difference between a silver arowana and an Asian arowana don't buy anything homie and as other people say research.... Silvers and black arowana have Te same tail pattern just that the tail is different color and the price is completely different and for jardinis and Asians I would say color would be the best way to determine and price most Asians are around a few thousands and a jardini between 3-6 inches is less than $100

Hey! Silvers and blues/blacks look similar except when juveniles, the blues/blacks are in fact pretty dark in color. As they get older they resemble silvers except they are narrower and have more of a point toward the tail (like an arrowhead almost). The silvers are more robust and generally can get bigger; 4 feet if you have sufficient room. They are very cool fish and you can keep a bunch together...again, if you have sufficient room. I have seven in a 15,000 gallon pond with a bunch of other fish. Don't know much about jardini... Except I don't want any. Stick to the south American dragon fish. Good luck!

HBRTG has a higher level of shine than RTG... In other words the gold colored scales go higher... Alot of hbrtg are cross between low XB and RTG

Use adult photos for reference I don't know how to explain this really :p

Everyone has to start somewhere. None of us know 100% correct info. Just saying cut him some slack, he didnt mean any trouble and he did absolutely nothing to you.
