would i a able to keep one in that tank becuase i see it do before and is it hard to keep discus.

Discus get tall. Of course you could keep one in there (20 high better) but two who aren't mated might fight. Get 4-6 juveniles and let them pair off. Then sell the others or set up another tank for them.
Discus are hard to keep and if you don't know that then you'll spend alot of money to have your fish die. Do some research first and I hope you've kept other fish before also. If you have good tapwater I'd recommend 50-75% water changes everyday. All you need is a heater, an air driven sponge filter and alot of water changes. If you got bad tapwater think about getting a reverse osmosis unit but thats a big investment (but at least you can drink the water too).

yea i might do that buy 4 juveniles , let them pair off and sell them or set another set up another , it how munch money i have at the time , how long do you think i can keep 4 juveniles in that tank or how long will take for them to pair off. do i need to do something extra to keep these then my other fish.

do anybody know any good website to buy discus in the uk and should mainhaed aqutices be good for disucs because i heared that buying discus form lfs are bad idea.

Hi.. Before buying discus I think you need to do a lot of reading. While they are not as fragile as use to be, they do require more care than your average tropical fish. They are also happier in groups and in preferably a 55+ gallon tank to really thrive. Also in addition to this forum I suggest SimplyDiscus as well as DiscusForums. They both specialize in discus and have very knowledgeable people. The DiscusForums site has a lot of UK and Aussie members so might be able to help re Maidenhead.. The SimplyDiscus form is US based but has members all over the world.
Discus are a wonderful fish to keep but it is definitely a commitment that needs to be made to them to provide optimum care... Not trying to dissuade you from keeping them just want you to be informed...So research research research and if prepared then go for it. HTH Sue

In a tank that size they might get big before they pair off but four is a good number (better than 6). You'll know they paired up when two start to pick on everyone else.
Just keep it simple (no plants, gravel, driftwood, etc - surfaces for bacteria/ skin parasites to grow). Of course you could have gravel and plants but then your pair will have skin parasites and intestinal parasites which would be hard on them and their spawns. If you keep it simple (heater, air driven sponge filter, massive water changes) they'll spawn for you and hopefully then you could set up a big planted display tank for their offspring later (after you sell some of them). Of course if you're not interested in breeding then just set up a nice planted tank with room for them to swim in the open (plant to the sides and back).
Discus have gotten alot easier. And your lfs should have good choices if their other fish are up to par. At least you can see them before you buy them. If they consistantly have fish that die after purchasing them then definitely don't buy discus from them. Just find a local forum and get some from knowledgable hobbyists.
