Hello everyone,

Has anyone have any luck with diy c02? I am on my second 2 liter bottle but no bubbles yet. I let it set for about 12 hours but nothing. Currently i am using 1/4 yeast 2 cups sugar 1/8 baking soda (found on website somewhere) but no dice. I also silicon connections on the bottle to make sure there is no leaks but still no dice.

Does anyone have it working and how do you do it?

thanks for your time

Mine works well and produces a lot of Co2. Not as much as Presurized but it surves its perpose.

When you are mixing the yeast and sugar with the water make sure that the water is around 110F. that will activate the yeast.

Right now my hand gets burn by the water when I fill so I think its hot enough. Have a crazy water heater for my apt. What recipe are you using to make c02? I also have my bottle on the floor with the tank on a stand about 4 ft above. Is that ok?

put the bottles above or level with the water in the tank. You don't want it to back siphon into the bottles. If you are burning your hands then you are probably using to HOT of water. Get it at about 110 F. I use 2 cups of sugar and 1 tsp of yeast with no backing soda.

Cool ill give that a try and I did put a check vavle on there just in case.

Sweet baby jesus it is working!!! Thanks alot tropking! I am using a cheap $11 internal filter I found at my LFS and linked it up to a small gravel filter. Put some foam out the bottom so the air bubbles can't escape. I think its working the only problem is that there is a bit of air at the top of the cylinder. But I think that will sooner or later just be filled with c02 from the bottles.

something like the above but the airline goes into the side.

Here is a quick cell phone pic of the setup. Right now is V1.0 looking to make a V1.2 soon thats alot smaller

I think that because you have a small section of Co2 at the top the bubbles have to be broken down REALLY small and there is not enough water flow to accomplish this. Granted, as the Co2/Yeast mixture ages it will slow down and that Co2 pocket will disapear.

With the filter on its saying that it runs 45 gph but i removed the filter part and it deff seems to pump out alot more water. Do you think I need to get a power head for better defusing? Right now the air pocket has gotten alot bigger almost half the tube. Not sure if I should shorten the chamber so the water flow can keep up.
