actually im talking about completely hard lining the FX5, like this...

same concept though. thats actually what drove me to start doing it on the AC intakes.

ok LOL!! i thought you were just trying to advertise your DIY intake... LOL

How would I go about doing that?

essentially its the same way you did the spraybar. just use PVC to hardline the intake to wherever you want it. it gives you a more stable and rigid intake. and you can position it wherever you want.

Just wanted to update. After I added sand back into my tank, the flow was mounding up the sand and making bare spots. So....I made a spray bar 36" long and drilled 5/16" holes. Flow is nice and gentle and spread out well across the whole length of my 90 g. No waste sitting anywhere on top of the sand either!

I should attempt to do this as my first DIY project....looks nice and professionally done.

It is not difficult, just takes a bit of patience to get the holes in the spraybar to line up.
