have you noticed any change in pH since you put the wall in?
No noticable change in PH. Styrofoam and pond sealer are PH neutral.

Very Very nice man! I'm really thinking about doing very similar to my 265. How thick of styrofoam did you use?

OK - this will push my memory. It was a few years ago.

I think the 3 sheets were 5mm (1/4inch), 10mm(3/8 inch) and 40mm(1 5/8 inch) + I had 2 cubic foot blocks. It was all high density foam. I needed a hack saw for the blocks.

It was definately worth the work! I have only tested it with S/A cichlids and barbs. I don't know what catfish like plecos would do to it.

Go for it mate - let me know it you have any more questions.

I am going to do something like this on my next tank, but using drylok instead of pond sealer, and extruded polystyrene (available in blue or pink sheets at hardware stores) instead of the normal styrofoam that consists of little pellets stuck together.

A lot of people use concrete which seems like way too much of a PITA when it works just as well without it.

was the sealer expensive? And does it cone in any other colors?

I think the bondall pond tight came in black, sandstone, blue and white. I found that I could mix the stuff without a problem to get different colours. I know people also throw sand into the sealer before they paint it on to get different effects.

I can't remember how much it cost but it was not too dear - under $100AU

I love the gospel of the FSM - very funny :)
Cool - I can't wait to see your project. Post a link when you start please.
I originally planned to make it from concrete but as I did my research I realised that there were better ways :)

Thanks guys.
