Do common mollies necessarily need salt at all?

I was just wondering if common mollies (poecilia sphenops, not any of the sailfin species) need salt to thrive and breed if my water is already pretty hard at 7.6-8.1 ph.

No they don't need salt .

As Mr lindsey said, if you have hard water they should be fine without salt.

I’ve bred mollies without salt. Your water doesn’t even need to be all that hard either. Stability is key.
