Is peat moss safe for red-tailed boas? Its a lot cheaper than eco-earth.

I get the loose stuff at petco for $11 a bag. 1 bag is enough to cover a 75 gal tank with an inch to an inch and a half of substrate. Its a little more expensive than the bricks, but much drier and ALOT easier.
