Do you use Prime with well water?

Hello MFK,

Do you use Prime or any other conditioners for water changes involving well water? What product should I use?

You use Prime or water conditioner to get rid of chlorine or chloramines. You can use Prime to bind toxic ammonia and turn it into non-toxic ammonium if you have ammonia in your well water.

Not many people on well water use Prime or any water conditioner because most well water does not have chlorine/chloramines.

I have well water and don’t really use it. I’ll occasionally use it for my reef tank just to be sure but haven’t really worried about it for freshwater.

I have been using well water in my tanks for 17 years and have never used any kind of conditioner.

Same here. On well water. Not using any water conditioners or other additives. ?

Going into year 21 on well water. Never use dechlor except after bleach dipping something that has to go into a tank right away.
