Thanks! N just PM me if you have any questions. I'm not an "expert" by any means but i now have the experience.

with red bellies their growth is directly related to water quality, tank size and diet.
But in general the average rbp will grow between 0.5 - 1" a MONTH (for the first 6 months) then slows to 0.5 - 1" a YEAR.
so you can make an educated guess on their age that way but its not 100% accurate.
Cool Thanks.... Any question I will definitely be PMing ya!!! Thanks Again..

Im assuming mine are between 7 to 9 months old. I do over feed, but i water change 25% biweekly, my temps are 80 to 81, just to make'em grow a little bit quicker.

Yep yep. i do 25-30% weekly and a big 50% w/c every 6weeks or so.

Also if you guys are trying to get yours to breed. I've heard adding cooler water during a w/c can trigger it or doing a w/c after a rainy day. Some people even add rain water directly to the tank... but none of this has been proven as fact. go ahead n try it out!

So looked this morning and had one neat nest of orange eggs and a second nest of eggs scattered all over. So I tried to syphon out the neat nest and a bunch of sand came with them so I scooped the nest into a cut in half old gallon prime bottle. then poured them into a 10 gallon tank of parents water with airstone and sponge filter and Meth Blue. I'm hoping that the ones that got buried will be ok... Alot are on top of the sand so I guess will see..

Awesome! I'm excited.. but yea..sand sounds tricky.. next time (if you have faith in the parents ability to protect the nest) leave them in the tank. aslong as the parents keep the other Ps away (&pleco if ya got one) you'll have a higher hatch rate.

however even the parents will eat the fry when they hatch so its best if you're home when they start to hatch. (Idk about sand) but in gravel they hatch and wriggle into the substrate so all you have to do is gravel vac where the eggs were and you'll suck up hundreds (thousands?) of babies to put in your 10gallon set up.

Goodluck! 2 days n you should see movement... try to place the airstone in such a way that creates a light current over the eggs. Meth blue greatly helps fight against fungus but is not bulletproof.
