The key fob thing started with Ford, they did the same thing with stangs.
As a Chrysler Tech I've been sitting here scratching my head since 2003 wondering wtf is taking so long to get the whole forced induction thing going.... Thought for sure after the srt4 neons people would see the light. Nope. We had to sit here and run with ford and gm for the last 10+ years watching what happens when you take mild mannered power plants and huck a huffer on them. FINALLY Dodge decides to drop the normally aspirated knife and actually show up to the gunfight with something that we can actually compare apples to apples with. Hemis are strong, no doubt, just glad they're finally getting the induction technology that everyone else has been using. It's a fair fight now aside from the Hemis still being conventional pushrod motors. Would hate to see what a 4 cam Hemi would be like...... Viper has been running against charged Vettes for how many years and they've done a fairly good job of holding their own.
The LX car platform debuted in what? 05 with Charger and 300C? These were Benz inspired luxury cars sporting Benz suspension, Benz Nag trannys, and Hemi power. They might be called "pony" cars but not sure they were ever even intended to be. To compare them to true ponies like stangs and Camaros isn't really apples to apples in my eyes. A LX car actually rides nice. I'd call them luxury cars with a lil "sport" to them. Them in auto cross to me is similar to big girls in yoga. Not a match made in heaven. Even straight line they aren't that great, hell my lil srt neon isn't far off a coworkers srt Magnum. The LX cars are really heavy.
Any of you guys that have driven SRT LXs know that the traction/stability control systems are out of this world, so its nothing like driving a Viper or something with primitive traction/stability control. These systems are amazing. It can be very difficult to even get these things pitched sideways, let alone real out of control style driving. Tires break loose, stuff makes noise, car is straight as an arrow. Unfortunately wireless throttle bodies leave it up to the car how much acceleration you actually get, and with the ability to pinch brakes now these cars can really compensate for drivers lack of ability to correct.
Rest assured the horsepower wars are closing. EPA is going to put a stop to it real quick. One things sure, it'll be going out with a bang..... Everyone's trying to get stuff put out before the government squashes it.
