obviously this stuff is WAY more cost effective than massivore delite...my question is, IMO hikari makes the best fish food I've tried, is this stuff still going to be good (I know it won't be as good as hikari, but is it still good)? What kind of growth rates will you see on your catfish, and will they still be just as healthy?

My catfish grow like crazy on Aquamax. In reality, everything I have grows like crazy on aquamax. My fry and juvi cichlids in my ponds grow like crazy on it too. Usually when fish are going after pellets like crazy, you usually get some pellets that break apart into little pieces and my small cichlids gobble these up like crazy. I get REAL good growth rates out of the tons of midas fry in there. Ill post a few pics of my fish in here and you can see them. They have been eating aquamax for a while. These pics are back from the summer as I have no had time to take any pics lately...

Here is my 1100 Gallon pond pic.. All these fish get aquamax besides the cichla and they get market shrimp and occasionally fish fillets. But they eat them so fast none of the other cichlids or catfish get any...

Here is my other pond, these guys get only aquamax and nothing else...

Are the colors as good as they would be on a real high quality food? Probably not, but I guarantee aquamax is much better than dogfood for them and just as cheap.. ;)

S. Planiceps who is picky, but will eat aquamax. His stomach is huge now because he swallowed someone last night. Tried to get a count and cant figure out who is missing.. Over 2ft.. For comparison, that pleco was 18inches when I got him. Dont know if he has grown any or not..

It's made to keep fish healthy and maximize growth rates. Check out what the fish farms, They're in it for the money and they use this type of food.

Been 3month and his still doing just fine on dog food. His color is a little dull but i believe that to be from the lack on lighting on the tank. I have installed a cheap set up to help that out.

Listen......look at the ingredients on the fish food them look at them on the dog food. Do they compare at all?

Dog food has al ot more Ingredients then Fish food. I surprise that some ppl give it as snacks and some (really small amount) staple it like i do.

this idea is ridiculous. Anyone who has been in this hobby long knows that when it comes to happy, healthy, thriving fish there is a huge difference between "what works" and what is ideal.

As far as i know, I've been at this for 3month and haven't found any signs of not healthy, Not happy. Asfar as i know he is. And i will continue this Tell the day the fish dies.

WJC05 What is the size and So. Im unable to find Large pellets that are cheap as dog food.

we only feed our dogs Flint River Ranch original kibble. go to their website and click products. it tells you why regular dog food is bad for dogs (or at least why they say its bad) (www.frrco.com). it has fish meal in it, so it has to be good for fish, right, lol. it's kind of expensive at $50 for 40 lb, though. i may start feeding a little to my fish, but not much or very often. why would you add food coloring to dog food, anyway (ingredient list in first post)?

i've been thinking about stealing a bad of the pellets we feed the trout at work and trying them for my fish.

The pellets I am feeding arent the largest. There is one size larger than what Im feeding. Only reason I got these pellets were the feed store had them in stock and would have had to have ordered the next size up.

My large catfish will come up and eat these pellets though so they arent too small. With all the fish I feed I still havent gone through a complete 50lb bag of pellets. You can tell the size of the pellet compared to the fish in the pics where the redtail is eating from the top..

It says that my pellet size is 3/16" and the largest one is 1/4" so there isnt a whole lot of difference between the two..

Im not saying that dog food is bad for the fish or anything, but I just feel better knowing that what Im feeding was designed for fish and I pay 30 bucks for a 50lb bag which is similar to dog food prices..

If you want to feed a dog food, you might as well feed a premium dog food, as it will contain less fat, better proteins, and more nutrients. If you want to get away with cheap, then go with cat food, as there is more fish meal in cat food, as well as less grains. Earlier statements that dogs are carnivores is not 100% true. They are actually omnivorous, just look at their teeth. Cats are true carnivores, and as such get more protein. Fish meal is the most common protein in fish food as it is so there is little difference. Regardless, as Levi said, why buy dog/cat food when you can buy cheap fish food for fish. Both foods are going to be harder on your fish as they are made primarily of mammalian or avarian proteins.

which one of the aquamax carnivore are you feeding?

Those arent the different kinds. Its just using feeding examples for those four fish. It is all aquamax carnivorous fish food. They just tell you that you can use it for all 4 of those fish and then show examples of how much, etc..
