They can handle the tropical temperature, yes. It just concerns most of us that as they are coldwater species, they tend to become shortlived in a warm environment.
Perhaps it depends what they were raised in? Mine was born and raised in tropical temperatures. But I'll probably cool the tank off a bit just for the sake of it all. I know plenty who've had them for years in tropical settings, so I really don't know what to say, though they are supposed to be coldwater -shrug- Best of luck to all of ya!
Isn't it usually said that coldwater/temperate water fish prefer cooler temps because they are used to a higher-oxygen environment? I've heard that before anyway.
Bubblers if they need more oxygen, I use a nice one for mine xD Maybe that's why he doesn't mind 72F-78F? He has the same amount, perhaps more oxygen than he would have at cooler temps? Either way I'll try to keep the tank a little cooler to cater to my baby :3
dojo (weather) loaches do better as cold water fish. they grow around 10-12 inches and will eat: bloodworms (freeze-dried or frozen), catfish wafers, algae wafers, flake food, cichlid pellets, and carnivore wafers.
