Dovii named Dovi

It's wrong, different water conditions, dietary requirements

These arguments, come on....So what you are saying is you have individual tanks for fish from various parts of the world and do NOT just use tap, you condition the water of each individual tank to the specific "requirements" of that region? You also do NOT feed pellets or flake to said different fish, you individually source specific food for said specific fish? I really dislike when people use those as an argument for mixing fish. If you want to say a dovii will murder all other fish in the tank at some point so should be housed solo, okay I can get behind that, but water conditions and food...o_O

I've got to agree with you here. Plus just pointing out the potential negative doesn't really add much to the conversation. He's doing things differently and it is his prerogative to do so, it's not like he's got an Arowana, RTC, Queen Rose and Dovii in there.... ;-)

Lol user what you did there at the end. I apologize if my argument was too generalized. I'm loading my truck for work and didn't have the time to be more articulate.

In regards to this, NO I don't do ****... I keep fish that thrive in my water.

I would be lying if I wasn't like WTF when I first saw the Dovii in with Mbuna too though haha

Learn before work? Has nothing to do with me not knowing.... I won't even dispute that it can work. What I'm saying is.... It's wrong, different water conditions, dietary requirements, temperature, etc. for both. Surviving is not thriving, most of us here strive for a higher quality of life for our fish. Sorry if YOU didn't know that.
Fish can thrive at different water levels. The most important thing is maintaining the same levels. The fish in the wild and the fish in your tank are very different. In less you have wild caught fish they will most likely not require the same water levels as they would natively. Hey you know everything though so I'll leave you be.

I also think keeping Africans with a Dovii is ridiculous.
They will be bullied to death or eaten, that's just the obvious, without going into dietary issues.
I'm guessing the tank is to small too.
Why does everybody need a dovii? There are thousands of fish to choose that can live long and prosper(see what I did there Kirk)In modest sized tanks.
I like tigers but I've only got a Persian cat.

Oscars, discus are probably the most line breed out of all cichlids yet keep them in hard water they will get health issues or at the very best not show there true potential. A few generations of line breeding in the hobby won't completely reverse 20 million years of evolution that quickly. Having said that dovii, mbuna are quite close in terms of water parameters and I am sure it's just a temporary set up anyway.

Ive had my Dovii since he was an inch big he will get his own habitat eventually. If it would let me post videos you will see the tank almost seems like a community. The Africans are fast and used as dither fish to break up the more aggressive fish. It's a fun tank to watch but it's temporary. Most of these fish are rescues from worst conditions.

I never claimed to know everything, in fact I know very little in regards to the vast amount of information available. The difference is I take commonly held truths and attempt to apply them to my fish keeping. On another note, why are you being so standoffish? I offered my opinion, you don't like it? Ignore it? Simple huh? To call me a know it all and attempt to project your own attitude towards fish keeping on me is laughable. Keep giving your fish "good enough" care and living conditions, guess I shouldn't really care.
