Today I saw both a 10" Dovii/Texas male which had the body of the Dovii and the coloration/pattern of the Texas and about 10 or so Dovii/Jag hybrids that have been unofficially named "Hoffa cichlids",you can try and figure why, haha. I'm kicking myself in the @ss for not taking pics of the Dovii/Tex but I coincidentally started that exact breeding project today,we'll see how it works!

the FHxdovii on youtube is awsome!!
Is this the fish you are refferring to?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jm76gBn4QtY

I agree it's a cool looking crossbreed but I very, very much doubt that fish has any dovii in it. Obviosly it has some Parachromis in it (Parachromis blotch/marking on the top of the gill plate as well as a few other traits) and looks to have some trimac characteristics (probably from flowerhorn). I think red tiger motaguense is the most likely parent though who knows for sure. Both jaguar and dovii sport a black spot/blotch at the base of their pectorial fin .....only these 2 species exhibit this trait in the Parachromis genus. The fact that this fish doesn't is yet further evidence that neither of these parachromis species (jag or dovii) are likely the parent involved. My dovii X festae has the spot on the base of the pectorial fin and so does the known cross of jag X festae (manaconda) though I supose there is always some chance that a cross with jag or dovii would take on the characteristic of the other parent in this regard.

To be certain of what the cross is, generally you have to know who the parents are. Lots of speculation, but unless you have the crossed the fishes yourself, it's often very difficult to be certain what it really is the product of.

It would be nice to see more pictures of known dovii crosses. The only other crosses I have seen pictures of, besides my own fish, are young dovii X jag and young dovii X other Parachromis species. Not as keen on these types of crosses, as they are already very similar fishes, but would also like to see the pics of mature specimens.

I have 2 dovii x jaguars remaining. I kept in contact with the couple of people I gave the rest to so we'll see how they turn out as time goes on.

Parachromis Dovii/Managuensis AKA the Hoffa Cichlid. The Hoffa Cichlid is named after the Infamous Jimmy Hoffa.
This is Big Lynch about 10" now hard to get a pic.

Wow, that's an interesting body type. That's about exactly what my little guys look like. Does the dovii colors come through? Like the blues and greens at all?

The Dovii side come more offten then not in this case. You still get a alot of Managuense traits like the Reder eye's,big lips and head . It can go both ways just like people. A friend of mine happend to have a Dovii Managuense Pair going for about a year now 4 successful batches of fry. There are 2 Body styles, a deeper body style and the standard body. They start geting bule tiped fins around 2" to 3". They get like a Gold Red Cooper coloer around 3"+
As for my Hoffa the Dovii color does come thought More in the Fins then anything. Some green in the Face at time but the Cooper Gold Coloer starting to take overing the face. Only time well tell ill get some more pic up soon.

whats with all the parachromis suggestions? IMO breeding it withsomething outside of its genus would look a lot better, like a synspilum :D Parachromis to a parachromis just makes a for another parachromis...

Its Called a Line Breed.
I don't think the People are looking for a RainBow Wolf. The Body stlyes are totally different no good standard in body sape. But u would get variety like a Blood parrot wih a long body.
You get all different body stlyes not what iam looking for. Iam geting tired of FLOWER HORNS.
But i get what your saying.
Ill get some pic up of a Dovii X Texas today or tomarrow one of my favorites Hybrids THE BLUE TIGER CICHLID......
