Driftwood

You might consider Spiderwood.
It's an actual twisted root. It's relatively cheap, sold at Petco and Petsmart.

Spiderwood does release tannins, but not in the same league as Malaysian or Mopani.

It sinks over night if it's soaked in a tub of warm water. I have five big chunks of it in my show tank. I really like it.

Another fish that will quickly dispatch the wood fungus are Rosy Barbs.

Hello everyone. Hope you and your fish are doing well. I'm thinking of getting a new piece of driftwood for my Angelfish tank. Which is better. Mopani or Malaysian?
I'd be more inclined to just go for a drive and find as much as you can carry. And it'll be fun. You're in Florida, how far away could the ocean be? Max 50 miles?

Hi everyone. I'm getting Purigen to use in my tank for the tannins. I have mesh bags that are 150. Will they work?

I used mesh filter bags from amazon and just threw it in the clean water end of my canister, so it doesn't get clogged with poo, but can't remember the mesh grade, sorry
