Actually the concrete chunks visible in the first pic are just loose and underneath it. Wouldn't surprise me if it was initially a slab that it vibrated into pieces.

If/when we ever do the outside deck and landscaping I think I might install a second smaller sump or something and have it distribute some used fish water up and out into the yard for the plants. I suppose I'd have to come up with some kind of suspended bucket contraption in there to catch the drip leftovers to ensure that there was water there every day for the pump, and then the pit's pump would handle any overflow from that bucket. That could be interesting. Wonder if it'd be worth the cost and effort though, as opposed to simply letting rain and ferts do it. And if I'm dripping 100g a day it's not as if the nitrates will even be that high.

This is fun. I started my "build" thread in July and never did anything. Now I'm actually getting things accomplished. Only a few days til I run the remaining speaker wire and thus also hopefully the PEX.
