Dwarf Arowana??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i have seen short body asian aros

There is no such thing and as advised they will be stunted and not very attractive fish. All Arowana get huge at least 30''+, i sold my RTG as it was 23'' and my tank was only 24'' wide and 6' long.

Can you show us pics of asian aro's with the size you claimed above? You're knowledgeable in this department so I'm sure you didn't say it without some basis.

And there are short bodied aro's from deformity but not stunt...

Hey T1, how big is your red on a tape measure? You've had it for 7-8 years right?

Pics would be a help :) what sort of size do short bodied ones get to then or are they not available to buy

Dwarf and short bodied fish are two different things. One of the main reasons for owning an arowana is the grace and elegance exibited while swimming. Not something you get out of a deformed fish that "waddles" when it swims.

My dwarf arowana.. actually I rescued her. She was kept with African cichlid that bite of her tail. When she was a juvenile.

short bodied...not dwarf. Maybe that's what you're looking for. And Short Bodied Asian Arowana are much more expensive then the normal ones.
They're called Fa Fu Long in Asia.

How expensive? do you know how big they get? how do people make fish so that they have shrt bodies?? seems really harsh

Few thousand or more depending on the grade of the Asian Arowana. Not too sure what's the max size, but the biggest I've seen is about 14ins long.
They aren't "made". More of a genetic defect. Like maybe one out of a thousand gets born this way. Not many are able to survive to adulthood though...
