Our earthquake drills in the 1950s/1960s involved us crawling under our desks. As for as a big quake, the shaking can go on for minutes. I remember one particularly bad earthquake we had--the whole house was shuddering and making noise--I was running around trying to remember what I was supposed to do....stand in a doorway? No. Lie down in the tub? No.....interesting,it doesn't seem that any move would be safe in the event of a big quake.
I am sure that in a Cascadia event, I will be homeless --either the house collapsing, or the ground underneath giving way and sliding into the river below us. Don't know which will get to us first - the big ONE or a fire - both catastrophic events.
This was in 2020, and we had a huge fire last year when we were on Level 1 Evacuation status. The main road out of here was closed for over a month.
