I have some pictures of the worms that I'm talking about but I can't figure out the posting pic feature on this web site. Not sure why it ask for a url instead of just letting me take it from my files? Oh well, I'm going to look around on this site and see if someone else had this problem and figure out how to do it.

Kcameron, that's a cool pic of your crawdad. My big male is all red. I don't think the species I have actually turns any shades of blue. I think yours looks pretty tuff with the colors like that.
The bodies of work one would peruse on this subject do not avail themselves easily. What little is known about terrestrial and aquatic annelids is often doubted by subsequent researchers and the whole worm family is reclassified so readily that it will be a long time before the average critter keeper has any resources in identifying "earthworms" and worms that look and act exactly like them. I have found annelid worms in a stream that, for all intents and purposes, were earthworms. But they stayed a little smaller than their terrestrial cousins. So even though I succeeded in keeping them alive indefinitely in filtered cold water, I have no idea what they are. And have certainly realized that I'll never know what they are because it's starting to look like every stream and creek has its very own species of worm. Either that or scientists are so eager for namesakes they're all scrambling to reclassify these worms in their favor. It's a real mess. Yeah, we've got our nightcrawlers and red wrigglers. But look closer. Count the bands. Too many differences in separated populations. It'll leave your head spinning.
European Nightcrawlers live underwater, for quite a while. They're also great for composting.

Ok, I think I have the picture problem taken care of. Here are a couple pictures of the worms that are living in my aquarium. If anyone knows what these are please let me know. I'm not for sure that they are night crawlers, but to me that's the only things they can be since I've never put anything else in the tank that would resemble these things.

. She used to love lightcrawlers but would make a much bigger mess of them than the fish. If I am seeing it correctly, those dont look like baby nightcrawlers nor any other kind of terrestrial worm I've ever seen
