So my 55(soon to be 125) is in my basement and the sink is on the floor above so when I do water changes I have to go up a level with my python. Filling the tank is easy because of gravity but draining it is another story. It takes forever to drain my 55 gallon, somewhere around 30-45min. There is so much water being wasted during water changes I just use buckets now. Is there an easy way to drain the tank without blowing the water bill? I do have a sump pump a room down and there is a very small window across the room if that helps.

Maybe you can use a pump like a sump pump to draw the water out.

that sounds like a good idea. Any reccomendations?

is there a floor drain? if soo get a pump any will do put it at the bottom of the tank run a hose from the pump to the floor drain and let it run, if you dont wanna spend the money on a pump then just siphon the water out tank to drain ive done it lots of times :)

Hammer to the side of the tank... always works ;-)
I'd put the sump pump in a bucket, then use the siphon into the bucket from the tank. That is, if you have fish in the tank. that way no risk of chopping one up

By floor drain do you mean sump pump? I'm guessing it's the same concept. I have no problem getting a pump. What type do you guys recommended? I know nothing about aquarium pumps.

That sounds fine but I am still hauling buckets. I want to cut out the middle man i.e me.

Camshaft--hahaha.

OP--I just run a hose and siphon it out my doorway in to the yard. No pump... but I have gravity working with me as well.

The door way is quite a ways from the tank. I am not sure the water would travel that far. I guess my biggest problem would be starting the suction and keeping it going.
