So i've had the ehem pro 3 2075 filter for a while now... thought i'd write a review.... interesting results... in my opinion, it's not as good as the older professional 2 equivalant

Firstly...

THE GOOD

- Solid build... feels robust, built to last.

- the internal prefilter cartridge is at the top, so you can open it, wash it, and replace without taking anything else out of the filter

- the baskets slot tightly together... hard to imagine any bypass

- only uses 16w of power

- maintenance is a piece of cake - the valve / disengage mechanism is great

- comes with media - very high quality eheim media included... thought not quite enough to fully fill the baskets.

THE BAD

- Noisiest eheim i've ever had - this is louder than my 2217 (which is getting on for ten years old), louder than my 2028.... probably makes about the same amount of noise as a fluval 405. Not a huge problem, but it's in my living room and you can just hear it. other eheims you have to touch to tell they're on.

- priming system has stopped working after two cleans. again... my older 2028 still works a treat....

- not much grunt... low power motor... pehaps... but while this turns over water well enough, there's no oomph. Again, comparing it to the 2028, both a re rated roughly the same, but fitting an eheim venturi to that results in a lot of pressure, the 2075 doesn't quite have the same power.

Overall

Honestly...? This costs more than the 2028 but it's not quite as good in my opinion. If i was buying again today, i wouldn't buy a 2075 unless the 2028 was not on sale anymore. The 2075 really only brings a pre filter and lower power consumption to the table.... and to me, that's not worth the extra £'s.

I personally don't mind hearing the filters. My Fx5 produces a very very slight hum that is intensified through the stand. Many would say that filter is LOUD because of this. I say its damn quiet.

If this is the hum you talk about with this filter, you are too damn picky. If its louder, than toss it and get a Fx5 haha.

Do fluval 405s have a reputation for being noisy?
Not to me. I set mine on a cut up rubber bathmat and cant hear it at all.....:D

get a 2262 and review it.......its top notch! 18 liters of media at 900 gph!
