I recently changed the substrat pro inside my eheim canister filter. The old stuff still looks good. Could I clean it in boiling water and reuse it in the future? I had used it for just over a year and rinsed it once in a while. This stuff is expensive so I would use it again if I could.

I would never throw out all good bio media. I might replace it in ten percent intervals like every three months max. Like said above if its dirty (Which it really shouldnt be) Wash it in water from the tank it supported.

Its a marketing ploy, eheim fluvial they all recommend you replace a % of your bio every 3 months its crazy.$$$$$

throw it in a bucket of water with some bleach.... cleans it perfect... flush a few times with water and your good to go next time around...

You use tank water so you don't kill off your bio and removes wast build up,chlorinated water would kill the useful bacteria.
