Quick question....

Can I use a few inches on electrical tape in my RCS tank? Is it safe? I want to attach a sponge filter to my hob intake but its a tad bit to small.

Thanks

I use rubber bands to attach sponges to intakes that don't want to stay, but once the sponge is on the the filter runnign tis a non-issue. as for if the sponge is to short.. and your needing to block off the upper part of the intake. Which I'm guessing is the issue? I use the white threading tape used for plumbing instead of "tape" in my tanks. what I would prolly do in your situation though is put a pantyhose ect over the intake then the sponge over that... or vice-versa depending how often you don't mind cleaning the sponge. ime nothing gets past a old pantyhose, but it also works almost to well.

Sorry, I guess I didn't explain myself clearly. I need to wrap the tape around the tube that comes up from the sponge. The idea is that it will act as a spacer so it fits in the hob intake.

I've used electrical tape in tanks on occasion, no apparent problems. Wouldn't hesitate using it again.

Like so many other of the posters above me, I wouldn't use electrical tape in my tank. I use either fishing line or rubber bands.

Moved to setup/filtration.
