Elephant nose care

As I could not find a section for this could mods put this in the correct place if needed please.

So I want to acquire an elephant nose. Not much to find on the internet. Other than peaceful usually top off at 9" like a bgk wit electric stuff and mostly eats worms and small shrimp. So does any one have any experiences or tips on the care of these guys? I heard they are tough to care for you have to feed them always but they say it mostly only eats frozen?? Could that even be healthy? What would be the proper foods to give one? Or if i could be appointed to a care sheet if there is already one made. thanks
 
Theyre slightly sensitive, water quality should be really consistent. I would make sure I had chemipure in my filter. Feeding wise, I've gotten ele's on pellet foods, but california blackworms are my favorite food for these guys. Max size I'd say is about 12". Neutral pH is preferred.
 
I had one that I absolutely loved for about a year, was easily 10". Sadly he jumped out of a small cord hole... Which brings me to my first tip, cover your tank. Secondly, they need at least above average water conditions, pristine is ideal. Thirdly, I would feed live tubifex worms, live red wigglers, and chunks of earth worm along with occasional frozen blood worms. Must be one per tank, or at least 6+, and can be quite territorial regarding their caves, provide plenty. I would get at a size of 6"+, and they are super inter-active and an awesome fish.

They do need frequent if not constant feedings in order to be ideally healthy, like your standard mormyids.
 
like suggested live blackworms are my prefered food or Mormys. Ideally a planted long term set-up. one of the few fish i think need kh/gh tds perameters monitored along with your standard testing. extreamely intelliegent and active fish once acclimated. ive found other hard to keep species easy (spiney eels, stingrays, ect) compared to that family.
 
I was a total noob at the time but I actually kept one for 2 years in a tank with African cichlids until my heater broke and it did surprisingly well. They like blood worms and brine shrimp among other frozen foods. Don't underestimate their personality though, they can hold their own better than you'd expect. Mine used to chase full grown mbuna cichlids out of his log whenever they tried to take over.

Yea when I said bgk I was really meaning are they similar in care needs and personality and electric. Ya I was planning on only one. Eew I hate worms :p. Ill just have to get over it if I ever find one! Thanks for the help. Keep em coming :). Is that true about kh? I don't even know about that stuff :p. Well my Ph is 7. Actually may be a Tad lower since I have a bit of driftwood. The Tap is 7.

I need to spark up my fish life
