Doesn't it get too hot in the summer in Socal? My indoor tank was literally overheating with no heater lol.

Indoors people usually run AC, unless of course it's a garage or a shed. Outdoor ponds, if deep enough, can benefit significantly from geothermal cooling in the summer and warming in the winter. The deeper the pond, the more the benefit. I think.

Seasons in Socal are very mild. If anything, water temp in the pond would be a little cooler in the winter.
