I'm going to try and attach a video of it. Mother guppy is in small container separated out of her usual tank (a 55g) using that tank's water. I put her in it right before she started giving birth. Guppy fry were born very dark in colour (unlike the usual colour, a light brown) and seem to be dead or dying. Mother shows no signs of illness, other fish in the tank appear healthy. Anyone got any clues here? Pretty disappointing to see the entire litter come out dead...

well never mind, can't upload the video of it, says it's too large.

Post water parameters. Fry are ultra sensitive to less than perfect water conditions, and although I have had lots of guppies, a few do come out deformed or sickly. The first batch for any female might also not be as good as layer ones (I have heard!)

I just checked and parametres are perfect. Ammonia/nitrites 0, nitrates 4 ppm, ph 7.6

the guppies in my main livebearer tank (the 55) are all swimming around normally and their water params are the same.

The guppy fry came back 2 life! A little while later after i posted all this and they started swimming around. I transferred them to their own 10gallon tank where it is just them in there with a sponge filter and small airstone. And now they are all swimming at the top. They were doing this before in the container and I thought maybe they weren't getting enough oxygen in there, and it was too small for so many fry anyways (over 40!) one died but the rest were ok. Now they are all swimming at the top, still.

thank you guys for answering!!
